I check news feeds when I wake up, I had to sit down again upon learning of the passing of Jeff Beck. For me, as a human and and as an alleged guitarist, Jeff Beck’s music was key in feeling emotion in someone’s playing and in embracing new textures and approaches. I continue to work on vibrato arm technique based on his style and while challenging have also worked on playing without a pick and leveraging the volume control on the Stratocaster to attempt to emulate his tone.

Top and Best lists make me angry. I will miss Mr. Beck, and celebrate his influence on me. He was never on a list for me, he was just always there. Thank you for everything you gave sir.
