I want to thank my friend David for the link to this superb video. I likely would not have found it otherwise.

Mr. Robert Cassard has a YouTube Channel called Guitar Discoveries. You should consider subscribing.

However the purpose of this very short post is to direct you to the video linked below. Even though i have talked about capos at some length over the years, Mr. Cassard’s presentation is the best that I have ever seen. It is entirely FACT based, is not paid for by some maker and the demonstrations are superb.

If you use, or are considering the purchase of, a capo, you NEED to watch this video. I stand with him on everything he says.

I will add that while I hate any capos with springs or elastic straps, G7th does make capos where you set the tension, but most do not have the fine control screw that the D’Addario Pro Capo does. I have recommended G7th for years, but I have ordered the D’Addario because it is less expensive and I like the level of fingerboard radius independence that his demonstrations show as I own guitars with radii as round as 7.25” to completely flat, as well as both acoustic and electric 12 strings. I do like the G7th screw tension 12 string capo with the vari-depth contact, but placement does require some precision which may get missed during a live performance or dim light.
